It’s Market Day in the Barony!

Like the market days of the middle ages that happened in towns and villages across Europe, this is a social gathering, in period garb; a time to get together with your neighbors, exchange goods and information, eat, drink, dance, and be merry! Come for an hour or stay all day.

  • The Market Place will open at 10am and run until 4pm, with different activities scheduled throughout (watch for updates).
  • Please bring a dish to share for the potluck lunch if you plan to eat with us.
  • Alcohol is allowed for those of legal drinking age (please enjoy responsibly).
  • Children must be supervised by their responsible adult at all times.

Update for January Market Day:

January Market Day!

When: Saturday January 19th from 10am-4pm
Where: Red Shield Hall, 936 Exchange Blvd Rochester, where we also hold our meetings, and combat practices
What to wear: an attempt at pre-1600 period clothing of any culture- please note the hall may be chilly until there are enough bodies to warm it up! There is a lavatory down the hall if you need to change clothes.
What to bring: a pot-luck dish or beverage to share (8-10 small servings), plus the ingredient list if you’re baking or cooking; there are plenty of outlets for crockpots, but no kitchen on site. Plan to take any leftovers home with you. Bring feast gear for yourself (there is some plastic ware/little paper plates if you forget).
What’s happening: a preview of table making plans, Scribal Bookmark Make & Take project, a Mongolian game, a class on Documentation for SCA Arts & Science Competitions, a chance to learn how to be a Court Herald with a mock court, and maybe some drumming.
What is needed: TABLES, if you have 1-2 folding tables, please bring them.

I know we’re all keeping one eye on the weather forecast and hoping the heaviest snow will hold off until Saturday night, but if your plans change last minute please post and let us know.
Athos will open the hall well before 10am to get the heaters going. Matilda will be a little late due to a prior commitment.
